Two Minutes on a Mac
After reading this post on lifehacker today about a simple two minute timer for all those Getting Things Done fans out there, I realized what I had to do. I couldn’t stand seeing Mac users left out in the cold when it comes to two minute timing utilities! To that end, I’ve created a little application, so just click here to download your Mac version of the two minute timer.
I don’t think it will become the next new Stunt product, but hopefully one or two people out there will find it useful. I even threw in Growl support, mostly because I’d never used Growl before and wanted to see how easy it would be to implement. The answer? Very very easy.

What are the licensing terms of this product? GPL? Public Domain? I didn’t see a text document or anything in the “About” menu of the product detailing the terms under which you are making this available to the world…
I’m not sure about the specific license, I want anyone to be able to use it for free, but don’t want anybody redistributing it without at least asking me first. Any suggestions?
I put up a license page describing the licensing terms of this software. Basically just what I said above.
Thanks for sharing your timer for Macs! I have two suggestions: 1. Have an option to have the timer on permanent restart. I love to jog and walk on my treadmill, and need a timer that beeps every two minutes for 60 minutes straight. 2. The timer should beep! It should actually make a noise so that if you are running on a treadmill or in the kitchen, you would be able to hear it.
Thanks again and please keep in touch if you make any of the changes above.
Sincerely,
Cheri
Thanks! That’s great. I have a couple of feature requests:
1. Can you add dock badges to it so that you can have option to see the time counting down in the dock too?
2. Can you add the option to change the time period from the default two minutes?
Many thanks

thanks from all of us GTD’s
Great wee easy app, I love it.
I’m a big fan of GTD/43Folders/Lifehacker etc.
Thanks for this.
Cheers.
The download link, http://www.stuntsoftware.com/dmg/twominutetimer.dmg, is currently broken. The similar http://www.stuntsoftware.com/dmg/Downsize.dmg works fine, so I guess it’s just a file walked off…
Charles,
Thanks, I’ve fixed the link in the original post - it was actually just a capitalization issue that worked fine our last server, but not this one, so the correct link is http://www.stuntsoftware.com/dmg/TwoMinuteTimer.dmg

[…] I have recently renewed my use of David Allan’s Getting Things Done system. In it he says, “if an action will take less than 2 minutes to complete, do it!” It takes less energy to complete the task than it does to file it and return back to it. I found these timers to help remind me how long 2 minutes is. PC Timer and Mac Timer […]
